The Kirkwood Soccer Club’s successful growth required adding fields to its ten-year old, 13 field, soccer complex on River Road. Therefore, the Kirkwood Soccer Club renewed its lease agreement with New Castle County for the existing facility and added an adjacent 24 acre tract to be developed with six new soccer fields and additional parking to accommodate the growth of the club’s programs.
VanDemark & Lynch was selected to provide the surveying and civil engineering for the development of the new soccer fields and parking facilities, and to upgrade the existing parking lot. We also provided the design for a state-of-the-art artificial turf field.
VanDemark & Lynch provided both topographic and property surveys. We then designed a site layout which reduced conflicts between pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The site design required a new stormwater management basin for stormwater quantity and quality management, and the conversion of an existing irrigation pond into a stormwater management pond to accommodate the improvements to the existing parking lot. Our design included new site access, parking lots, sidewalks, athletic fields, handicapped accessways, and other site features. We also prepared the required record and construction plans in accordance with New Castle County and State regulations. To complete the project, V&L also provided the administration of contractor bidding for the construction of the improvements.
